Kate here! I put my hand up to chat with you about the wonder of a winter wedding and why they can be just as gorgeous as a summer celebration. Why am I qualified? Well, I got married in late November, and we even had a sprinkling of snow while our guests gathered around fire pits wrapped in blankets, and it was pretty darn special.

I’ve also had the pleasure of working on many a winter wedding with Gloam, so we thought we would share just how glorious they can be. But first, here is our top five loves when it comes to winter celebrations:

1. Instant atmosphere! With it getting dark so much earlier, you will benefit from the flicker of romantic candlelight from the get-go, and your fairy lights will sparkle all the more.

2. The chance to add layers of accessories for a luxe winter look, from capes and jackets to gloves and blanket shawls. Oh, and remember, any jewellery details will sparkle even brighter.

3. Indulge in deep rich colour palettes and layers of textural details. With oodles of seasonal fragrant winter foliage, locally sourced dried details and romantic heady florals.

4. Cosy winter food, you can keep your guests very happy indeed with warming festive drinks and hearty, comforting dishes.

5.. as you’re not battling with others for those ever-popular summer dates, you’ll be able to work with all those suppliers at the top of your list! Smart thinking.

If these reasons haven’t convinced you, then take a look at these beautiful photographs with special thanks to Michael and Marie, who got married at The Cow Shed Crail, Karyn and Ewan, who wed at The Byre at Inchyra, and to Cat and Mike who shared a winter celebration at Guardswell Farm.
