A Dreamy Late Summer Wedding at Gilmerton House, Scotland

Embracing the change of seasons could be the secret to the perfect colour palette.

Hannah and Justin planned the perfect destination wedding with the help of Mercedes from Scarlett and Bell Wedding Planners. Celebrating at Gilmerton House, just outside Edinburgh, they took full advantage of the late summer season and everything this beautiful venue had to offer, from the atmospheric drawing room to the beautiful blank canvas of The Laundry. Due to the classic Scottish weather, they ultimately opted for an indoor ceremony, but the gardens still provided a wonderful backdrop for their photographs.

The wedding florals and table designs were built around a late summer meets early autumn sunset palette. Hannah and Justin envisioned an earthy and romantic atmosphere, featuring toffee tones, dusty soft pinks, apricots, neutral nudes, and lush greens, all accented with hints of brass for added warmth.

For the ceremony, we created a lush, wild meadow of florals that fit perfectly within the venue’s bay window, serving as a backdrop for their vows. Pillar candles were added to enhance the romantic ambiance, while an authentic timber signing table adorned with a bud vase and tea lights beautifully tied together the intimate ceremony details.

For their dinner reception, our team dressed two elongated trestle tables in neutral linens. We arranged clusters of bud vases, pin-frog arrangements, and candlesticks, showcasing rose and caramel tones in a mix of ceramic and vintage brass vessels. Each place setting was completed with a knotted apricot napkin and a rosewater-etched goblet as the featured water glass.

We took full advantage of the venue’s fireplace feature by creating a wild, floral-heavy backdrop, which served as a stunning focal point for guests to admire throughout dinner, speeches, and dancing.
